ENUVAL
Connect. Teach. Pursue. Empower. Impact.
Our Mission
Own your health.
Enuval’s mission is to elevate spine care and research by empowering those directly impacted by spine conditions. We educate and train patients to drive our research and innovation through a continuous feedback loop between patient needs and spine health solutions. Our focus is on patient-centered topics often underrepresented in biomedical research, integrating patient-driven solutions with accessible and effective advancements in global spine health.

Current Projects
Enuval draws upon the experience and engages those with spine conditions to support our active research portfolio. We have multiple projects in different stages of development and are continuously in dialogue with our contributors to develop new, high-impact ideas. Here, we highlight a few of the projects about which we are most excited. Click here for our research portfolio.

Overcoming Barriers to Spine Implant Access
Implants that support bones during healing are often critical to heal spine injuries. How patients obtain these critical supplies for spine surgery is widely variable and can present a major barrier to care access. Our contributor, Kelly, had to purchase her own surgical implants in Venezuela. To better address this challenge, Enuval has examined the variations in this process globally. Learn more.

In many countries, information about the quality of implants critical to spine surgery is scarce. Enuval’s goal is to address this gap in information about quality by testing the strength of screw and rod combinations sourced globally and then making this information available to patients and their surgeons. Inspired by the outpouring of interest in this topic during co-founder Martha Hunt’s pregnancy, Enuval is exploring the effects of scoliosis throughout pregnancy and postpartum. At this stage, we are gathering input from our contributors about the issues during pregnancy and postpartum that affected them most significantly. Learn more.

Owning Your Spine Health Information
At Enuval, we involve those affected by spine conditions in research that directly impacts them. Many contributors, like Rumeysa, have often been research subjects but never active participants. We're changing that by empowering contributors to own and use their medical information to collaborate on research. Learn more.
